ANTI-DISCRIMINATION POLICY

  • This is a safe space for individuals of all genders, sexualities, ethnicities, experience levels, play styles, and other intersections of identity. Behavior that stereotypes, discriminates against, or harms community members will not be tolerated

    • This includes racism, non-consensual fetishization, hypersexualization, stereotyping, micro-aggressions, transphobia, homophobia, intentional misgendering, misogyny, ableism, fatphobia, bullying, harassment, blackmail, coercion, intimidation, and defamation.

    • If you witness someone who expresses any of the above, please inform someone on the SoCal Creatures Leadership Team immediately.

  • Never assume pronouns or identity if not publicized by the individual - ASK!

  • Educate yourself on language, actions, and items that may be appropriative and/or harmful if used by you so you can avoid them.

  • Kink is inherently political! It is important to research the political backgrounds and implications of our play in order to adhere to Risk-Aware and Personal Responsibility-Informed kink practices.

  • Privilege looks different for everyone. It is our responsibility to do the work to understand our privileges and how they affect the ways we exist in kink spaces in order to contribute to a safer community space.

CONSENT POLICY

  • Do not touch people or personal property without their permission.

  • Anyone can withdraw consent, make a nonverbal safe sign or use the universal safeword “Red,” at any time. Once consent is withdrawn, the activity must stop immediately. You must agree how to stop anything at any time prior to the scene.

  • Consent may be given verbally or nonverbally within the pet play space. Verbal consent looks like an enthusiastic “Yes.” Non-verbal consent looks similar to that of biological animals, and is covered in our pre-event Orientation. If unsure, verbal consent is always best.

  • Don’t re-negotiate in the middle of your scene unless it is to reject activities that were previously agreed to. A person who is in headspace may not be able to give informed consent even if they agree or don’t protest in the heat of the moment.

  • Regardless of role, we are equals. Negotiate as equals before either person assumes a role.

    • Ask and negotiate before using pet names/titles or engaging in verbal role play. For example, don’t call someone “Mistress” or “slave” or any other role-play word unless you’ve asked for permission.

  • Each person must make sure everyone has the mental and emotional capacity to give informed consent.

  • Be aware of any pre-existing social power imbalances that may exist between you and the person you are negotiating with (new vs experienced, gender-related, race-related, assertive vs shy, etc) so that you can ensure that these imbalances are not negatively impacting your negotiation.

  • If the person you wish to play with has someone whose consent is required before they can engage in kink or sexual activities, ensure that you have their enthusiastic consent for all details of the scene.

  • Negotiate the scope of your scene prior to the activities. The bottom must give verbal consent to all types of touch, including but not limited to sexual touch, before the scene begins.

  • The top is legally responsible for stopping the activities at any suggestion that the bottom has withdrawn consent. The bottom is ethically responsible for being clear and unequivocal when withdrawing consent.

  • Anonymity and discretion is essential within BDSM/kink spaces. Attempts to "dox" or "out" someone will not be tolerated.

  • Ask for consent before following or interacting with someone on social media.

  • If you experience or witness a consent incident, tell a Dungeon Monitor or clearly marked delegate of the event (with a glowing red wristband) immediately. Please also report if you think someone is not able to consent. Violation of this consent policy may result in expulsion from the event or group. No one is exempt from the rules.

Disclaimer: Every reasonable effort will be made to enforce this policy, but this organization makes no representations or guarantees about its ability to do so, and all participants/attendees retain full, sole responsibility for their safety and the safety of others with whom they interact.

Keeping our community safe in the face of Covid-19 is of utmost importance to us. The first line of defense against these viruses is wearing a mask - ideally N95, though KN95 or surgical are also acceptable.

The other most important things to do are to get tested regularly and stay up-to-date on your vaccinations. This includes the flu shot, too!

In order to assist you, we have compiled resources for Covid-19 to the best of our abilities based on CDC and local health department guidelines. We will keep this as up-to-date as possible.

Last Update: January 20, 2026

COVID-19

VACCINATION

  • We highly recommend staying up-to-date with annual Covid booster shots.

  • Find a Vaccine Location and book your appointment HERE. You can also book your next flu vaccine through this website.

  • Alternatively, you can also find a location to book your vaccine HERE.

  • Talk to your healthcare provider about additional options through them.

TESTING

  • Find CVS testing centers and book appointments HERE.

  • You can purchase a 5-pack of home rapid tests by iHealth from Amazon for $44.95 HERE.

  • Order free at-home test kits through USPS HERE. Only 8 per household can be ordered when this option is available.

  • If you have COVID symptoms, you should test immediately and isolate. Please do not attend any events or gatherings if you have symptoms, even if you test negative. Wait a couple days and test again. Do not attend a gathering until you have no symptoms and are still testing negative.

  • If you have been exposed but do not have symptoms, isolate and test within 5 days. If you test negative, re-test 1-2 days later.

  • Before attending an event or gathering, we recommend taking a test as close to your departure time as possible. This will give you the best chance at an accurate result.

  • If you test positive on a rapid test, get a positive PCR test immediately. This is important if you have any Long Covid symptoms later on, a positive PCR will serve as better proof than a home test of your past Covid infection.

  • If you have tested positive, it is generally thought that you are infectious as long as your rapid tests are positive (even if it's a dim line). Do not attend events and wear a mask during this time, until you have tested negative on 2 home tests spaced a 1-2 days apart. You will have positive PCR tests well after you are infectious.

The pet play lifestyle is full of so many voices that make it unique and vibrant. To showcase this, every month we will be shining the spotlight on a particular human animal or Handler in our community. Let's hear what makes every pet player special!

This month, we are honored to feature a beacon in the animal role play and leather community. Matriarch of House Elite and Animal Play Monarch with over 50 unique and glorious beasts at her command, she is truly an inspiration when it comes to training and transforming human animals. We can't wait to share her wisdom and experience with you...

MADAME MARGHERITE!

Please introduce yourself and how you identify in pet play/animal role play.

I'm Madame Margherite, the Animal Play Monarch.

How did you first get into pet play?

This has really been something I've done all My life. Turning people into Animals has been something I've always done, if not in real life than in My head. Sometimes when I'm having a difficult time being accepting or tolerant of a person, I'll envision them as an Animal and that makes it easier for Me to have compassion and understanding.

How would you describe your Handler/training style?

I think My handling style is firm but nurturing. I really like to tap into the mind and imagination and bring it out as much as possible, but that takes care and effort which I take seriously and aim to provide at all times.

What do you value in a pet?

Creativity and flexibility. I like a Pet who can step out of all the boxes and go with the flow of the scene. Someone who isn't too married to their ideas and eager to explore whatever feels good in the moment, so long as it's safe.

What inspired you to help people explore different animals than "the norm" of pups and kittens? How would you advise an aspiring pet to start exploring their identity?

There's so much more to us than what's on the surface and people find it difficult to really show themselves. It's easy to identify as something that you see others accepting, but what if something is hiding? What if people have parts of themselves that they're just too shy to show? If I create a space where exotic Animal identities are welcome, that opens up the possibilities for people to explore more parts of themselves, and not just the parts they feel are already accepted by outsiders. There are so many kinds of Animals, as many as there are personalities - I encourage people to step outside of the norm because we don't get to do that often enough.

What advice do you have for new Handlers?

Protect your Pets. When people get into Pet space, they can get really deep, so as Dominants and handlers it's really our responsibility to keep them safe. Not just safe from harm, but also keeping them safe in their headspace. Doing things to make sure their headspace isn't compromised will really make a difference in the experience and dynamic. Protect your pets, protect the space, and protect the scene. That's the best advice I can give to a fellow handler.

What do you love most about pet play?

The freedom from social standards and etiquette. When we stop focusing on how people should be and focus on accepting how people are we learn a lot and find incredible beauty. We discover new ways to be and find more things to appreciate about each other. I personally think that's incredible.
